In “It Lives Inside,” directed by Bishal Dutta, Sam, desperate to fit in at school, rejects her East Indian culture and family in an attempt to assimilate with her peers. However, when a mythological demonic spirit attaches itself to her former best friend, Sam is forced to confront her heritage and embrace the cultural elements she had distanced herself from. The film explores themes of identity, acceptance, and the supernatural, as Sam grapples with her roots to overcome the malevolent force threatening her friend and, by extension, herself.
